Key Firebridge Personnel
Russ Chapman P.EngRuss has in excess of 35 years experience in the process combustion field with extensive experience involving many processes that are combustion intensive. He has been involved in all facets of burner and furnace/oven design including working experience with a number of the major original equipment manufacturers prior to joining Firebridge in 1994. His credits include turnkey design responsibility for a greenfield Energy from Waste Plant, experience with numerous alternative fuels and a number of years acting in an advisory capacity in the development and interpretation of new safety codes and requirements for large industrial combustion systems. Russ has a Chemical Engineering education from the University of Waterloo and is a member of the PEO.
Brian Leavens P. Eng
Brian has over 15 years of engineering experience directly related to the combustion field. He worked for 9 years with a leading burner manufacturer holding a variety of job titles and responsibilities. His experience has lead him through many facets of the business including burner design, product development, project management, sales, field installations, commissioning and service. Brian has worked around the world as a project manager commissioning new combustion systems. This experience has afforded him a wealth of insight into how projects are implemented under varying circumstances. He is adept at troubleshooting combustion systems, PLC's and associated process hardware and software. Brian has a Mechanical Engineering education from University of Toronto and is a member of the PEO.
Larry Song P. EngLarry has over 17 years of engineering experience. He worked for 10 years designing, testing, installing and commissioning diesel powered generator sets and related auxiliary equipment during his engineering work experience in China. Since arriving Canada in 2001, Larry has worked primarily in the combustion field and also managed to garner an Honours Bachelor of Computer Science from McMaster University as well as being certified as a licenced Gas Fitter. Larry is knowledgeable in the design of combustion systems and associated controls including panel design, sequencing and testing. He works on many of our TSSA approvals to ensure our clients safety and reliability needs are met and approved with both new and retrofit equipment. Larry has a Mechanical Engineering education from Dalian University of Technology (China) and is Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Hugh Sprague P. Eng
Hugh has over 36 years experience in the steel industry. He is recognized for expertise in industrial combustion, emission prevention and control, process engineering, cogeneration and energy management. He is extremely knowledgeable of the processes and equipment in place at most of the Canadian steel plants. Prior to joining Firebridge Inc., Hugh has held key roles in the Industrial Process and Energy fields. Over the past four years Hugh has consulted on energy and environment matters through Sprague Development Inc. to the Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA), Natural Resources Canada and Dofasco. Hugh has been at the forefront of much of the recent discussions about energy and environmental emissions in Canada and is recognized as an expert in these areas. This includes forays into the policies and regulations concerning climate change, smog, and emissions trading. Hugh has a Mechanical Engineering education from McMaster University and is a member of the PEO.
